Popular Amazon Fire Stick app filled with free TV shows, movies and live channels shuts down TODAY

A POPULAR app loaded with hit TV series and movies to watch completely free has finally closed its doors.

The app was home to a number of major series, including Judy Justice and Aussie soap Neighbours.

Freevee was also home to a number of themed channels as well.

But earlier this year, owners Amazon announced that the service was coming to an end.

The closure affects viewers in the UK, as well as the United States, Germany, and Austria, where Freevee has been available as a standalone, ad-supported streaming service.

Freevee was not only much-loved on Amazon Fire Sticks, but also Roku, smart TVs and more.

As of today, the app has virtually been rendered useless with no way to stream anything on it anymore.

Fortunately, any shows you enjoyed watching aren’t disappearing entirely.

Instead, you can find them on Amazon Prime Video, where they’ve been for sometime now as part of the transition away from Freevee.

And non-Prime subscribers will still be able to access this content for free with ads, under the “Watch for Free” section.

A message has been warning users of the imminent closure for sometime now with a popup warning.

“Prime Video is the new exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, movies and Live TV,” it reads.

“The Freevee app will be accessible until August 2025.

“Continue watching your favourite Free Originals and our library of hit movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free, no subscription needed.

“Download Prime Video to get started and sign-in with your Amazon account.”

THE BEST FREE TV

Fortunately there are a load more options for free TV on your Fire Stick and other telly gadgets.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content previously, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too.
