Powerball jackpot soars to $605 million making it the largest of the year after players fail to win any top prizes

THE Powerball Lottery jackpot has rolled over yet again to a staggering $605 million making it the largest prize of the year.

Once again players failed to scoop the top prize on Saturday night’s draw.

The jackpot is now the biggest of the year at a whopping $605 million (Stock)[/caption]

Not only that, but it was particularly unlucky as no one won the second or third tier prizes either.

By correctly guessing the first five numbers, players could have got at least $1 million.

Those who opted for the Power Play could have taken home $2 million.

On Saturday night, the estimated jackpot was $579 million with a cash value of $261.5 million.

The winning numbers were: 23, 40, 49, 65, 69 and Powerball 23.

The biggest winners of the night were five players who correctly guessed the first four numbers and the Powerball to win $50,000 which they tripled by buying the Power Play of 3X.

That one decision saw them take home $150,000 while 22 others took home the standard amount of $50,000.

Despite no wins going into the millions this weekend, players are urged to check their tickets to see if they were one of the lucky winners of the $50,000 or $150,000 prizes.

Players will now have to wait until Monday for another go at the staggering win which has grown to $605 million or $273.4 million cash.

They will have to correctly guess the Match 5 numbers and the Power Ball to be 2025’s biggest Powerball winner.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 292.2 million.

It was last won on May 31 in California when an anonymous player won $204.5 million.

There have now been 33 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner.

So far, the biggest jackpot win of the year was in March when another California player won $526.5 million.

The two other jackpot wins were in January in Oregon when someone won $328.5 million and Kentucky in April when someone won the year’s smallest jackpot of $167.3 million.

Meanwhile, more and more players are flocking to Powerball from other lottery games, The U.S. Sun previously reported.

It comes after Mega Millions made changes to its game earlier this year which has had very little positive impact on players with slower and smaller jackpot wins.

The changes that came into effect in April also ramped up the cost of playing.

But despite player upset, on Friday night, two lucky New Yorkers scooped major wins.

One won $3 million, narrowly missing out on the jackpot by failing to guess the Mega Ball and another won $1 million.

Officials are hunting for the prize winners so check your tickets and keep them safe.
