PLAYSTATION gamers have been hit by a huge outage leaving some popular features completely inaccessible for hours.
PSN’s services became intermittent around 5pm BST / midday EST but have since escalated massively as the day has gone on.

The Down Detector website picked up more than 3,000 complaints in the UK and almost 2,000 in the US.
It comes just hours after game stores – including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam – were beset by problems as players raced to download the new highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong game.
However, it’s not clear whether these latest issues are related.
One of the features apparently not working is Friends lists, with some reporting that their console shows no friends at all.
Others say that messages on the platform also don’t work, while loading on the PS Store is sluggish.
Naturally, users have reacted angrily to the prolonged problems.
And Sony’s own service status page for PlayStation showing no outages has added to the frustration.
“That we pay 73 euro’s a year for this lacking “service” is just a joke tbh,” one gamer wrote on Reddit.
“73 euros/year and they don’t even notify users about the problem and how long will it take,” another vented.
A third said: “All my friends have vanished, parties aren’t an option, some F2P games are working online, other multiplayer games are a no-go. Something weird is definitely afoot.”
With no new information from Sony for the moment, it’s not clear when the glitches will be fixed.
How to check for PSN outages
You can monitor the PlayStation service status page for updates at status.playstation.com.
Social media sites like X and Reddit are also a good way to work out whether you’re the only one suffering from a problem or if it’s something much wider.
