Members of an elite Russian military unit – including a distinguished Vladimir Putin war hero dubbed the “Executioner” – intentionally shot themselves and each other to fraudulently claim nearly $2 million in compensation for non-fatal war injuries, an investigation by Russian authorities uncovered.
