Rice faced eight charges after the crash: one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury.
He pleaded guilty to collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway.
Rice was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
His lawyer, Royce West, released a statement on behalf of the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver after the sentencing.
“Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas,” Rice said.
“There have been a lot of sleepless nights and thinking about the damages my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.
“I urge everyone to drive the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart.
“Last and certainly not least, I am profoundly sorry for the physical damages to person and property.
“I fully apologize for the harm I caused to innocent drivers and their families.”
After sentencing, there was still the matter of his civil cases to be dealt with.
Court records indicate that the first of those three lawsuits was settled on Wednesday, according to the Kansas City Star’s Jesse Newell.
Rice agreed to pay $1,086,000 in fees, including pre-judgement interest and attorney’s fees.
If he doesn’t pay the full amount, Rice will have to pay interest on the cost until it is paid off.
Rice still has two more lawsuits pending trial or settlement.

It is worth noting that Rice is still playing on his rookie contract, which isn’t huge as a second-round pick.
In 2025, he is set to earn $1.7 million, but that amount could shrink based on how long his expected suspension is.
As of now, Rice has paid around $1.2 million because of the crash. That includes his settled lawsuit and over $115,000 in medical restitution from his sentencing.
That number could rise based on the outcome of the other two lawsuits.
