RECORD Executive Damon Dash owes a stunning total of over $20 million in unpaid federal and state taxes, just as his Next Gen NYC star daughter, Ava, was evicted from her New York City apartment.
The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal that the Roc-A-Fella Records founder has been hit with three federal tax liens filed in 2022, owing the IRS a total of nearly $12 million.

The largest of the federal tax liens was filed in New York, for a total of $6,772,564.65 according to records filed on April 15 of 2022.
That tax lien accounted for money Damon allegedly owes the IRS from tax years 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2019 and 2020.
A second, smaller federal lien was filed in New York for $251,154.21, and that covered money allegedly owed to the IRS from 2020 and 2021.
The third federal tax lien, also filed against the Rocawear co-founder in 2022, but filed in California, was for a stomach-turning $4,827,176.
The total of the three federal liens are $11,850,895.91.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that it’s not just Uncle Sam who has his hand out to Damon for taxes owed; New York State also claims it is owed another $8.7 million in back taxes, according to the New York Post.
In November of last year, the Empire State purchased Damon’s one-third share of Roc-A-Fella Records for $1 million at auction with hopes to flip those shares to pay off his state tax debt and to also recoup an additional $193,000 in unpaid child support.
On Tuesday, June 10, in a case referring to New York State’s purchase of Roc-A-Fella Records, and reviewed by The U.S. Sun, the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance confirmed Damon’s “judgments for child support and back taxes remain unsatisfied.”
Damon’s legal team did not respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
Damon’s financial problems don’t end there.
INSIDE DAMON’S LAWSUITS
In April, the music mogul was ordered to pay a default judgment of $4 million after claiming on a podcast that movie producer Josh Webber and others stole from him during their work together on the flick Dear Frank.
The judgment was entered after Damon failed to “file an opposition” to the suit in the Central District of California Court, according to the Post.
He also owed a $823,000 judgment in a previous ruling over Dear Frank, which according to various outlets, he was ordered to sell several assets just this week after failing to pony up the money.
He also was slapped with another $300,000 judgment over a 2020 copyright infringement suit.
Damon’s money woes seem to be having quite the trickle-down effect in his family, after The U.S. Sun revealed earlier this week, his daughter Ava, 25, was evicted from her posh NYC apartment last year.
NO MONEY, MO PROBLEMS
Ava, who’s on Bravo‘s new show, Next Gen NYC, received an eviction notice for her luxurious apartment in Manhattan’s affluent TriBeCa neighborhood in July 2024.
According to the initial landlord-tenant filing, the property owner claimed Ava and three other tenants occupied the apartment but had failed to pay rent for four months at $9,995 per month, plus an additional $3,872.90 for a fifth month, spanning from July to March 2024.
The landlord requested the court issue “a warrant to remove respondents from possession of the premises together with the costs and disbursements of this proceeding.”
By October 2024, the landlord successfully obtained an eviction notice.
During the premiere episode of Next Gen NYC, a brief shot of an eviction notice on a door teased what seems to be a future plotline for the show. While the names on the notice are blurred out, it is presumed to be related to Ava’s apartment.
Ava, the daughter of Damon Dash and his ex-wife Rachel Roy, joined the cast of Next Gen NYC, which debuted last week.
The show follows a group of mostly 20-something nepo-babies as they navigate life, their parents’ legacies, and their own challenges while living in New York City.
The cast includes Ava, Ariana Biermann, Riley Burress, Emira D’Spain, Shai Fruchter, Gia Giudice, Brooks Marks, Georgia McCann, Hudson McLeroy, and Charlie Zakkor.
