Retro Sours, which were previously Altoids Sours, are making a comeback thanks to Iconic Candy, a company dedicated to bringing back “legendary childhood treats.”
“Bringing back iconic candies isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about creating joy and sharing those memories with a new generation,” Iconic Candy Co-Owner and CFO Kim Wiesen said in a press release.
“Between Walmart, our new site, and these bold new flavors, we’re making it easier than ever for fans to rediscover their favorites.”
The new flavors coming out include watermelon, raspberry, red apple, and passionfruit.
Iconic Candy also sells the original Altoids Sours (now Retro Sours) flavors of mango, citrus and tangerine.
The website offers three tins of the nostalgic candy in each of the seven flavors for $14.99, or a box of eight tins for $35.99.
Not sure what flavor to start with?

Alongside the Retro Sours revival, Iconic Candy brought back another 90s classic through Bubble Jug, the powder-turned-gum.
Bubble Jug is being offered in three flavors, including strawberry, watermelon and blue raspberry.
All of Iconic Candy’s revivals can be found by consumers in Walmart stores across the United States alongside the Retro Sours and Bubble Jugs.
This includes Creme Savers and a few others.
“The Walmart partnership is a game-changer for Iconic Candy’s reach and visibility, making its portfolio accessible to millions of fans who grew up with these brands — and to a whole new generation discovering them for the first time,” the company said in a statement.
Iconic Candy COO and co-owner Jordan Wiesen also explained that the partnership with Walmart is meant to bring consumers easy access to their childhood.

FAN APPROVED
Consumers shared to Reddit that the revivals taste similar or exactly like the old brands.
One user posted a photo of the Retro Candy in Walmart saying, “They are not under the same brands but tastes very similar.”
“I ordered online the tangerine Sours a year ago and they taste exactly like the old Altoids tangerine,” another user said.
The release of new flavors came a year after Wiesen revealed to People last year that they received an abundance of messages hoping for the revival of flavors like raspberry.
“We’ve said that it’s coming out in tangerine, mango, and citrus, and people are already like, ‘Well, what about raspberry? What about apple?’ And I’m like, ‘Can we just get the three that we’re launching first? And then we can work on additional flavors,’” he told the publication.
The most popular candy for Halloween 2025 was also recently revealed, and Reese’s was knocked off the top spot.
A viral candy was also flying off shelves earlier this spring and is still popular this fall at Trader Joe’s and other top stores, selling out in hours.
