During the early minutes of Fox NFL Sunday, Rob Gronkowski confirmed that he was coming out of football retirement, but not to play in the NFL.
The future Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end announced he, along with his former Patriots teammate Tom Brady, will participate in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic next March.
Gronk also revealed he’s been training but that he’s got to “pick it up a little and run fast speed routes.”
Bradshaw proceeded to ask Gronkowski how much he weighed before saying, “we’ve got to get you weighed down a little.”
But Gronk only heard the last remark and made sure to poke fun at himself and Bradshaw’s frame.
“I’ve got to lose about 20 pounds just like you,” he told the Pittsburgh Steelers legend.
Strahan instantly showed his amazed look at the remark as he along with the the Fox NFL Sunday crew couldn’t believe Gronk’s comment.
Gronkowski then took back his words to Bradshaw and said, “I’m just messing around.”
But Bradshaw playfully didn’t take Gronk’s comment well and his dapping up of Strahan shortly after it.
“Don’t be shaking his hand. That wasn’t funny,” he said to Strahan.
Fox NFL Sunday would continue as the show would welcome a special guest.
Drew Brees joined the show for the first 30 minutes.
The 46-year-old had joined Fox NFL Kickoff as he’s making comeback in his broadcasting career.
Brees was once perceived to be the successor to Cris Collinsworth at NBC.
But one bad playoff broadcasting performance derailed his career after just one year.
Brees found himself on Netflix‘s Christmas Day broadcast last season and did well in his role.
This year, Brees will be back in the broadcast booth alongside Noah Eagle for the Christmas game.
It’s not known how long he will appear on Fox NFL Sunday.
