Travel agents were told on Wednesday that they will no longer be visiting Haiti.
The move has seen all scheduled routes to the country scrapped until at least April 2026.
It comes due to continued violence in Port-au-Prince, posing a security risk to travelers.
The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning to the region earlier this summer categorizing it as a Level 4.
This means no one is advised to travel to the area.
The government has warned of the “addition of a terrorism indicator” warning people not to travel to Haiti “due to kidnapping, crime, terrorist activity, civil unrest, and limited health care”.
“Haiti has been under a State of Emergency since March 2024. Crimes involving firearms are common in Haiti,” the alert states.
“They include robbery, carjackings, sexual assault, and kidnappings for ransom. Do not travel to Haiti for any reason.”
Royal Caribbean said that all stops to the private Labadee resort have been canceled “out of an abundance of caution”.
It is the only cruise line that calls to the country, per the Royal Caribbean blog.
The following ships are all included in the list of those impacted by the cancelations:
- Adventure of the Seas
- Allure of the Seas
- Explorer of the Seas
- Freedom of the Seas
- Liberty of the Seas
- Independence of the Seas
- Jewel of the Seas
- Oasis of the Seas
- Symphony of the Seas
The email that was received by travel agents listed a number of ports that will be used as replacement destinations on itineraries, revealing new routes for passengers.
Nassau, Bahamas; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; and George Town, Grand Cayman will be the most likely.
But others including Grand Turk, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Bimini, Cozumel, and San Juan will also be used to replace Labadee.
Royal Caribbean is largely going to ensure passengers get the same amount of stops and ports to explore.
But, some journeys will have an extra day at sea instead, the email said, per the blog.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we have paused our upcoming visits through April 2026. We are communicating with our guests directly,” the cruise line said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the world’s largest cruise ship has set sail for the first time with 40 bars and restaurants.
Royal Caribbean’s brand-new Legend of the Seas made its splash at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland earlier this month.
Weighing in at more than 250,000 tonnes and stretching a jaw-dropping 365 metres long, the mega ship is now the world’s largest, nudging past her sister, Icon of the Seas.
