THE San Francisco 49ers brutally cut Jake Moody on Tuesday, having backed the kicker just one day prior.
Moody lasted just two seasons and one game in the NFL before being waived by San Francisco.

On Monday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that there was “no question” that Moody would remain as their kicker.
However, less than 24 hours later, the 25-year-old finds himself without a team, as reported by Tom Pelissero on X.
This is especially interesting when you consider that San Francisco have no other kickers on their roster or practice squad.
Moody had a pretty promising start to his NFL career.
He had a field goal percentage of 84% during the regular season of his rookie year.
However, it all started to crumble during the 2023 playoffs.
Moody missed two field goals and one extra-point attempt in the three postseason games before enduring a nightmare second year.
He missed ten field goals and one extra point in 2024 as his conversion rate dropped to 70%.
In the 49ers’ first and only game so far in 2025, he did make a game-tieing field goal in the fourth quarter.
The kicker missed two other opportunities, but it didn’t stop them from defeating the Seattle Seahawks 17-13.
He hit the post from 27 yards before half-time and then had a 36-yard attempt blocked.
Moody was a third-round pick by the 49ers in the 2023 NFL Draft.
He was drafted as an exciting prospect from the University of Michigan.
As a true freshman in 2018, Moody set a Wolverines’ single-game record with six field goals in a 31–20 victory over Indiana.
He then went on to win the Lou Groza Award and be named an All-American in 2021.
