SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Hot and humid through the weekend…
We’ve been following strong to severe storms in north central and northeast South Dakota this morning. Periods of heavy rain have fallen in this area as well as wind gusts of 50 to near 70 mph.
Temperatures this morning are in the 60s and 70s as thick humidity has taken hold of KELOLAND.

High will reach the 80s and 90s with scattered showers and storms late this afternoon and evening. The best chance for rain will be in western South Dakota this evening. Winds will vary from a south to easterly direction at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts.

There’s also a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather, hail and wind are the main threats with any storms that develop.


Scattered showers and storms will continue through the weekend as the heat and humidity continue. Afternoon highs will warm to the 80s and 90s for both Saturday and Sunday.

The heat and humidity will last into the early part of next week as highs remain in the 80s and 90s and dew point temperatures remain in the 60s and 70s.
Expect the high heat and humidity to break by NEXT weekend.
