They had completely outplayed their rivals across the first two days in New York.
And they kept the famous gold trophy during the single’s action on Sunday afternoon.
It wasn’t without drama though, as the US stormed to a comeback.
Lowry had to get a half point on the final 18th hole to retain their crown.
And he managed to hit a famous birdie to overcome Russell Henley.
The American had a shot from 7ft to win the match, but missed, and the Irishman took full advantage.
He struck the ball in from slightly closer, before sprinting off in celebration.
There were emotional scenes as the jubilant European crowd went wild.
Rory McIlroy and Co have had to fight through a torrent of abuse from US fans over the last three days.
State Police, dogs and extra security were all called in over yobs lining the fairways.
But they squeaked over the line, just!
Europe led the Ryder Cup 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 after the first day of foursomes and four-balls on Friday.
They then extended that lead to 11 1/2 to 4 1/2 on Friday with another two stellar rounds.
A neck injury to Viktor Hovland saw him pull out of the tournament before facing Harris English.
This meant the teams scared half a point each, taking the scores to 12-5 heading into the singles.
They then needed just two points on the final day of play at a packed-out Bethpage.
The Americans fought for their lives, with nearly every game on a knife-edge going into the back nines.
