SHEDEUR Sanders received brutal news as the Cleveland Browns announced their starting quarterback for Week 1.
The 2025 fifth-round pick has battled three other quarterbacks in a competition for the No. 1 spot on the depth chart this summer.

Sanders, fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, and veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco have been part of a drama-filled Browns quarterback competition.
But finally, the answer has been revealed on who will be the starting signal-caller for the team’s Week 1 opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.
On Monday at 1:00 pm Eastern, the Browns announced that Flacco will be the organization’s starter to open the campaign.
It always seemed that the 40-year-old would end up on top as the winner of the starting quarterback competition.
Flacco received the starting role as the other three quarterbacks have been dealing with injuries in training camp.
Sanders has had shoulder and oblique injuries, and Pickett has dealt with a hamstring injury.
Gabriel, meanwhile, has had a hamstring issue, but he was able to play in the team’s second preseason game last weekend.
It’s not known how the rest of the depth chart will look behind Flacco.
The 18-year veteran is in his second stint with the Browns.
The first stint came in 2023 when Flacco led the franchise to a 4-1 record as a starter.
He led Cleveland to a playoff birth.
Last season, Flacco played in eight games with six starts for the Indianapolis Colts.
The Super Bowl 47 MVP completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,761 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Flacco has experience working under head coach Kevin Stefanski.

The deadline to make the decision is on Tuesday, August 26.
Sanders and Gabriel are coming off productive preseason debuts, while the injured Pickett hasn’t appeared in a game yet.
The Browns will host the Los Angeles Rams in their final preseason game on Saturday.
