Shilo Sanders handed huge fine by NFL for punching rival despite not being paid by team after Tampa Bay Buccaneers cut

SHILO Sanders, 25, is in hot water after punching an opponent during Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.

The rookie safety landed a punch on tight end Zach Davidson, 27, as the Bills claimed a 23-19 win against the Bucs last Saturday.

Sanders was ejected from the game after his attack on Davidson.

He has now been slapped with a $4,669 fine for his preseason actions.

Sanders has since failed to make the Bucs’ 53-man roster ahead of the
2025 campaign.

The safety went undrafted in 2025 but landed a place in the Bucs’
preseason squad.

He has not been signed to another team in the NFL, leaving Sanders unemployed as a free agent.

His father, Deion Sanders, 58, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns drafted his his younger brother, Shedeur, 23, in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Shilo’s best hopes are to now be included in a practice squad for one of the Bucs’ rivals.

The NFL’s decision to fine to rookie casts an interesting question for Sanders to answer as he looks for his next role.

Ordinarily, the money to pay a fine is taken from the offending player’s next paycheck after the incident.

However, Sanders’ unemployed status means that Sanders may get away with never paying the fee.

It will go unpaid until Sanders joins another NFL side.

Sanders is not the only player to receive a preseason sanction as former Los Angeles Chargers safety John Johnson III has been handed a ban.

Despite being cut by the Bucs, Sanders is not giving up hope of finding a new home in the NFL.

It is understood that the rookie’s agent is working hard to deliver Sanders a new contract.
