Her second-hand purchase had been charming enough when she found the small piece of artwork[/caption]

Danielle Rose shared her discovery on her TikTok channel in a video that has been liked thousands of times.

Her second-hand purchase had been charming enough when she found the small piece of artwork.

But it’s what was hidden inside the frame that drew the most interest.

“My thrift find had a hidden surprise in it,” she wrote in the video caption.

Underneath the painting, a family photo dating to the 1970s was tucked away.

Danielle posted: “I love getting to know the history of the pieces I thrift, I was so excited to find this family portrait hidden behind the art I found at the thrift store.”

She has no idea who the happy family in the picture are, and is now appealing for anyone who can help return the snap to its rightful owners.

“Someone please tell me you know them,” she wrote.

“I’ll give them their portrait back!!”

Commenters on the video were quick to share in Danielle’s astonishment at the find.

“Oh my word what a treasure,” one user wrote.

“I hope you find them!”

“This is so sweet oh my god,” another posted.

“Idk who they are, but they have some gorgeous smiles,” a third commented.

Users from several states have already offered their help to try and source the family in the photo.

Commenters from Nebraska, California, Oregon and North Carolina have reposted to bring the search to wider attention.

It’s not the only stunning find sourced in seemingly ordinary places in recent weeks.

A vast coin collection found in the walls of a man’s home was found to be worth a staggering $3.5 million.

Many of the coins, which had been collected over a number of years, dated back centuries.

The collection even included coins from the Kingdom of Macedonia dating to 336-323 BC.

And elsewhere, a TikToker picked up a bracelet valued at approximately $25,000 during a charity shop visit.

The finder dated the bracelet to the late Georgian to early Victorian era, around 1835.

Her video, which gained more than 1.5 million views, has a caption: “When you go thrifting and accidentally find a 25k bracelet.”
