SHOPPERS in this US state have just a few more hours to take advantage of tax-free sales on certain school supplies.
With the end of summer upon us and another school year looming, parents across America will be looking to take advantage of any last minute deals.

But in Florida, families have had a whole month of a Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday tax on certain items.
Running from August 1 to 31, it gives shoppers in the state the chance to stock up on school essentials at a subsidised rate.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said: “Proud to deliver additional sales tax holidays, including the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday that begins on August 1.
“With the new school year just around the corner, Florida families can save on back-to-school shopping during the tax holiday for the entire month of August.
“By cutting taxes, empowering parents, and growing our economy, we’re making it easier for people to live, work, and thrive in the Free State of Florida.”
It comes as part of a relief package aimed at bringing $450 million in savings to support Florida residents.
The sales tax holiday applies to specific items that families can find in stores.
They include school supplies selling for $50 or less:
- Binders
- Notebooks
- Pens and pencils
- Lunch boxes
Clothing, footwear, and apparel priced at $100 or less is also included:
- Backpacks
- Pants
- Shoes
- Shirts
- Sweaters
Also available are learning aids selling for $30 or less:
- Interactive Books
- Puzzles
- Flashcards
And personal computers and accessories priced at $1,500 or less:
- Laptops
- Flash drives
- Printers
- Headphones
But anyone who wishes to take advantage will have to hurry.
The Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday closes with the end of August, meaning that many shoppers will have just hours to cash in.
