Last month, it was confirmed that a Harris Teeter location in North Bethesda, Maryland, would be closing its doors.

The store will be shut on or before July 20, giving shoppers very little time left to get the savings on offer.

Harris Teeter shoppers can currently take advantage of 50% off on a wide range of products.

This includes things like frozen goods, hair care items, greeting cards and cosmetics.

But shoppers need to act fast, as pictures from inside the store has shown all of the shelves that have been picked clean.

Harris Teeter sent around an email to shoppers letting them know the situation.

It said: “Our VIC card records indicate that you have shopped at the North Bethesda Center Harris Teeter located at 11845 Old Georgetown Rd., Bethesda, Md.

“After careful consideration, we have decided to close this location. The store closing date will be on or before July 20, 2025.

“This location has operated as a Harris Teeter since September 2008, and we have been honored to proudly serve your neighborhood over the last 17 years.

“We look forward to continuing to serve you at one or more of our many area locations.

“Directions from your location are available on either harristeeter.com or through our mobile app.

“We look forward to seeing you at one of our nearby locations and thanks again for your business.”

The store is operating its usual business hours, 6am to 11pm, until it closes.

A new tenant for the space has not been announced yet.

US braces for ‘45,000 store closures’

Some 45,000 bricks-and-mortar stores could close in the next five years, experts have warned.

Several major retailers have announced store closures or gone out of business altogether in recent years.

In 2023, chains such as Foot Locker announced plans to close up to 400 outlets by 2026.

While, other well-known retailers like Tuesday Morning and Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams filed for bankruptcy in 2023.

Bed Bath & Beyond has closed all of its brick-and-mortar stores and is now an online-only retailer.

The most affected retailers have been clothing, consumer electronics, sporting goods, hobby, book, music, and home furnishing stores since the start of 2019.

UBS has predicted the total number of retail stores will drop by 45k from 958k to 913k.

Despite that, the report says that certain stores should thrive while others decline.

It said retailers such as Walmart, Costco, Home Depot, and Target, could be among the winners.

HOMELAND GONE

Chiefs at Homeland are preparing to close four stores, three in Oklahoma and one in Georgia.

One of the closing locations is found in Jay, Oklahoma – located around 190 miles from Oklahoma City.

Bosses have said that the decision was not easy, as shared in a post on social media.

The Facebook note said: “It comes with heavy hearts.

“For years, you have welcomed us into your lives and allowed us to serve this community we care about so deeply.”

Shoppers have expressed sadness at the news online.

Mary McQuoid, a local resident, said: “It is a sad time for our community!

“Homeland provided quality service, food and friendliness. Just about everyone who shopped there knew the customers.

“They all will be deeply missed!”

Corey Blackfox, another fan, labeled the decision to close the store “crazy.”
