Sophie Cunningham facing another WNBA fine after criticizing referees again over ‘crazy’ treatment of superstar player

SOPHIE Cunningham has risked another WNBA punishment after criticizing officials again.

Cunningham, 28, was furious with the treatment given to an opposition player.

The Indiana Fever star was speaking after he team’s loss against the Dallas Wings.

Cunningham went off on the officials on her show with West Wilson after the 81-80 defeat.

Her main issue was with how Wings star Paige Bueckers was treated.

Cunningham said, “I love Paige to death, do not get me wrong.

“I think she’s a hell of a player and would love to play with her one day.

“But those refs were giving her every freaking whistle last night.

“You literally couldn’t touch her.”

The 28-year-old added, “That s*** is so annoying to me.

“If you’re going to do that, then give it to our guards.

“We know she’s a good rookie and she’s going to get some whistles.

“But to get the treatment she got last night was crazy.”

Bueckers was the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft – following in Caitlin Clark’s footsteps.

She scored 16 points to lift her team to victory, including being 4-4 from the free-throw line.

Cunningham, meanwhile, has already been in trouble with the league this year for apparently criticizing officials.

Last month she claimed she was fined for a TikTok video.

She wrote, “I got fined $500 for this TikTok.

“I don’t know why this is funny to me – like ok you got it bud!

“Because there’s not more important things to be worried about with our league right now.”

The video showed Cunningham singing along to a Sabrina Carpenter song.

A message @somerefs was also written on the clip.

And Cunningham apparently mouthed the words, “Stupid. Or is it slow? Maybe, it’s useless.”

Last week she also said she was fined $1500 for calling out “inconsistent” officiating on her July 28 podcast.
