Sophie Cunningham looks completely unrecognizable before her WNBA days as fresh-faced high-school teen

SOPHIE Cunningham looked unnoticeable in her days before becoming a college and WNBA star.

The Indiana Fever star was completely unrecognizable as a high school player.

Cunningham has arguably been the most popular WNBA player in the 2025 season.

The 28-year-old has been recognizable as she plays in her first year with the Fever while alongside superstar Caitlin Clark.

But Cunningham looked different during her high school days in Columbia, Missouri.

She rocked shorter hair and a fresh face as a prep prospect in Mid-Missouri.

Cunningham was a starter for Rock Bridge, where the Bruins won a state championship every year she attended the school.

The guard then attended Mizzou as she’d be labeled The Mayor of Columbia thanks to her popularity in her hometown.

When it was all set and done, Cunningham finished her collegiate career at the school as the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,187 points) and all-time leader in free throws made (537), among other records.

After six seasons with the Phoenix Mercury, the 6-foot-1 player has now never been more well-known due to her team-up with the superstar Clark.

And Cunningham’s combative nature helped raise her status around the league in a June game against the Connecticut Sun.

Clark was poked in the eye by Sun star Jacy Sheldon before she was pushed to the floor by Marina Mabrey in a stunning moment.

Mabrey got hit with just a technical, while Sheldon was given a flagrant 1.

But Cunningham took exception to the sequence.

With 46.1 seconds left in the game, Cunningham wrapped her arms around Sheldon’s head and pulled her to the ground after her foul on Clark.

Cunningham made headlines with the incident and has since been one of the most popular Fever and WNBA players.

She also showed her feisty self in college in one instance.

In 2018, Cunningham was involved in a fight as a Missouri Tigers player against the rival South Carolina Gamecocks.

She is now must-see television and has been a hit everywhere.

Cunningham has 1.2 million followers on Instagram and often updates fans with her glam life.
