Spring Creek golf course sold for $2.5 million

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Fore Score LLC is the new owner of the Spring Creek Golf Course, the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Secretary Kevin Robling said at Friday’s GFP commission meeting.

Robling said Fore Score involves Dann and Mike Grevlos. The 126 acre 18-hole course near Good Earth State Park was sold for $2.5 million, Robling said.

The Grevlos family has ties to local businesses including Shop ‘N Cart and several gaming businesses.

In April, representatives involved in the sale of the golf course told KELOLAND News the deal would like;y close at the end of May.

“This just happened in the last two days,” Robling said on Friday.

The South Dakota Wildlife Foundation, which is connected to the Game Fish and Parks department, bought the course for $2 million 2015.

The foundation had intended to convert at least part of the golf course into a campground as part of Good Earth State Park. Neighborhood opposition to that idea prompted the decision to sell the course.

Foundation executive director Kristina Colby said in November KELOLAND interview that indigenous tribes had questions about the use of the golf course land.

Foundation and realty representatives have said the goal and intent with any sale was for the property to continue to operate as a golf course.

“They were great buyers to work with,” Robling said of Fore Score.

The foundation will use the $2.5 million to “reinvest in Good Earth and the surrounding area,” Robling said.

That includes an investment in a potential campground in the area, Robling said.

“We had good activity with multiple (interested buyers),” Gregg Brown of NAI properties said in an April 14 KELOLAND story. “All were local, there was nobody out of the state. We were very pleased.”
