Exactly 250,651 vehicles are part of the mass recall across the country, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Saturday.
Stellantis discovered that certain airbags had been incorrectly fitted to a slew of vehicles.
The fault means that the side curtain air bags may not be correctly sealed.
The NHTSA warned that this fault means the bags do not have the right pressure to help prevent injury during a crash.
It even stated that there is an increased risk of ejection from the vehicle.
Drivers with certain 2022-2025 Pacifica and Voyager vehicles that make up the recall are urged to contact their local dealership.
They will be offered a free inspection and if needed, a free replacement of the side curtain air bags.
Those who are concerned about their vehicle being part of a recall can use the NHTSA’s ‘Check for Recalls’ system on its website.
Here users are asked to enter their license plate number or their VIN/ Year Make Model.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Stellantis for further information.
It comes just weeks after Honda was forced to issue a recall for thousands of vehicles due to a manufacturing defect.
Honda said 259,033 SUVs and sedans across the Acura and Honda brands have to return to their dealerships to get the error fixed for free.
The announcement was made after brake issues were discovered in three of its models.
The brake pedal pin which keeps the pedal in place, wasn’t secured correctly when the cars were made.
“During production, the brake pedal pivot pin may not have been staked, which may allow the pedal to shift out of position,” Honda wrote in the recall issued on June 12.
This month, Ford has also issued four recalls with an immediate “Do Not Drive” warning due to a brake problem.
It affects 2,345 trucks bought between March 19 and May 4 this year.
The issue is related to the lack of a retaining spring for the brake booster pushrod, a crucial part of a vehicle’s braking system.
According to the recall notice, the retaining spring may not have been installed in the recalled models.
Due to the missing component, the brake booster pushrod can separate from the brake pedal which can result in a “sudden loss of braking ability.”
