STEPHEN A. Smith was forced to issue an apology to his ESPN colleagues.
Smith was absent from Wednesday’s episode of First Take.

But the ESPN personality still made an embarrassing error despite not being on air.
He returned from vacation on Monday along with host Molly Qerim after the pair enjoyed their respective summer breaks.
Qerim was back in First Take studios on Wednesday but Smith had the day off.
He watched from home as Qerim, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, Kimberley A. Martin and Louis Riddick took to the air.
The show started with a segment about the Dallas Cowboys and the latest on Micah Parsons’ contract situation.
Smith was apparently the target of a remark from Russo over when he met Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
But the leading star of First Take came firing back on X.
He posted, “Ya know Mad Dog instead of complaining about me with Jerry Jones, all you have to say is ‘I miss my guy!’
“Get in touch with your feelings on First Take.
“Show your vulnerabilities. It’s cathartic. Trust me.
“Molly Qerim and K-Mart know this. So does Mr Chippendales himself Louis Riddick.
“Just say ‘Stephen. A, I miss ya, baby.’ See ya next week.”
But Smith quickly realized that he tagged the wrong Louis Riddick account.
“My bad Louis Riddick,” he later tweeted while tagging the correct page.
“My bad! I was still foggy, just getting up. My bad my brother!
“Especially inexcusable since you’re sitting in that very important seat on First Take this morning.
“But I do have the perfect excuse: there’s only suppose to be ONE Louis Riddick. Take notes.
“There’s only one Stephen A, baby.”
First Take will be moved to ESPN2 on Thursday and Friday.
Little league softball will be on the main channel instead of the sports debate show.
