He was invited onto an episode of SportsCenter this week to talk about the Knicks’ chances next season.

Dialing into the show, Smith was asked what to expect from New York next year in the NBA.

“I expect them to be right back where we last saw them in the Eastern Conference Finals,” he declared.

The Knicks were beaten 4-2 by the Indiana Pacers in this year’s Eastern Conference Finals.

And Smith cited the rest of their rivals in the conference in making his point.

He said, “The Boston Celtics don’t have Jayson Tatum.

“The Milwaukee Bucks don’t have Damian Lillard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“Even though Orlando just picked up Desmond Bane you still expect the Knicks to be right there with them.

“The Cleveland Cavaliers had an exceptional season, can’t get much better that the season they had during the regular season and yet we saw how they bowed out in the post-season.

“When you take all those things into consideration and the fact the New York Knicks’ top seven players remained on their roster.

“You’re talking about Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson, Michael McBride, Josh Hart.

“They haven’t gone anywhere so why should we expect anything less from the New York Knicks?

“We should expect at least the same.”

Smith was seemingly unaware of his mistake when reeling off the Knicks roster.

He was referring to Miles McBride when he called the guard Michael.

But fans on social media picked up the error.

“Diehard Knicks fan, right?” one said.

Another added, “Someone revoke this man’s ability to speak about the Knicks please.”

Smith went viral during the NBA Finals last month.

He was seen playing a game of solitaire on his phone while in the arena watching the Pacers face the Oklahoma City Thunder.
