Storm Center AM Update: Hot Start to the Week; Midweek Rain

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Just like the first half of the weekend, the second half features mainly quiet conditions but with a few differences.

We’ll be warmer with a bit more humidity today, but we’ll also have to watch the skies later in the evening to the southeast. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms may pop up later in the day and into the first part of the night.

A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place for portions of southeastern KELOLAND, with wind and hail being the main concerns. Coverage is expected to be rather sparse, but keep this in mind if you have any outdoor plans later in the day.

Any lingering instability departs by the midnight hour, and much of the night is pretty quiet as a result. Monday is shaping up to be a hot start to the work week, with 90s and 100s for highs. East River, it’s mainly quiet, but some storms are possible West River later in the day.

A Marginal Risk is in place for western, central, and a few portions of northeastern KELOLAND for Monday afternoon into the first part of the night. Again, wind and hail are the main concerns.

Unsettled weather lingers through the midweek outlook, with showers and storms possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. A Marginal Risk is also in place for Tuesday with a few storms possibly becoming strong to severe.

In the wake of this, we’ll cool down for the second half of the week. 70s are in the cards for highs on Wednesday and Thursday before we try to warm up again by Friday into next Saturday. We’ll also have a few storm chances in tow for the Friday/Saturday outlook.

Here’s a look at your extended forecast:
