BROOKINGS, SD (KELO) — The Brookings Summer Arts Festival wraps up today at Pioneer Park. The free festival includes more than 180 artists from across the region, plus a children’s area, food booths and live entertainment on three stages. Today hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Honeybee Festival includes hands-on activities, live music and vendors all gathered to raise awareness and appreciation for one of nature’s most vital pollinators. The festival is taking place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Laurel Ridge Event Venue in Sioux Falls. Admission is free.

Springdale Lutheran Church, southeast of Sioux Falls, is hosting an Ice Cream Social. Serving time is 4-6 p.m. The cost is a free-will offering. The menu also includes BBQs, potato salad and pie.

The Summer Concert Series at Good Earth State Park in Sioux Falls features the band, Too Drunk to Fish. The concert starts at 4 p.m. A park entrance license is required.

The Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs a free concert in the Terrace Park band shell. The music starts at 8 p.m.

Christmas in July at The Empire Mall in Sioux Falls includes treats and deals well ahead of the holiday shopping season. Stop in to enjoy free cookies donated by Kahlers Cakes. Mall hours are noon to 6 p.m.

Stop by AMC Collective in Sioux Falls to create your own Button Flower Painting. The hours are 1-4 p.m. It costs $15 per painting.

The Crossthreads Fiber Guild is hosting Fiber Fun at the Old Courthouse Museum in downtown Sioux Falls. Everyone interesting in knitting, crocheting and needle work is invited to work on projects from 1-4 p.m.

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant in De Smet, SD is a family-friendly drama based on the writings of the author of the Little House on the Prairie series. The performance is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15, $10 for children and free for ages 5 and under. There will be live music and wagon rides before the performance.

Bring your kids to Sioux Falls’ largest playground. Jacobson Plaza, located downtown, is open from 5 a.m. to midnight. The splash pad is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Lodge Bar & Grill is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The city of Sioux Falls outdoor pools and aquatic centers are located at Drake Springs, Frank Olson, Kuehn, Laurel Oak and Terrace parks. Open swimming will go from 1 to 5 in the afternoons and 6:30 to 8 in the evenings. Splash pads at Hayward and Pioneer parks are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Or, you can beat the summer heat with a visit to Wild Water West. The water park west of Sioux Falls features a tornado alley, water slides and a lazy river. The hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

UTV, ATV and dirt bike riders are invited to take part in a Dirt Run through several local communities. Registration is 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Vern Eide Motoplex in Sioux Falls. The cost is $20 per rider. Drawings and winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include The Goonies and Blue Hawaii, both rated PG, plus Materialists, rated R.

The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium features T-Rex, Mars: The Ultimate Voyage, 3-2-1 Liftoff and Wings Over Water.

The Palace Theatre in Luverne, MN is featuring the film Elio, rated PG. Show time is 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children.

New in movie theaters this weekend: Superman, rated PG-13.

It’s Hall of Fame Night at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, $10 for students and free for ages 12 and under.
