The Buccaneers released a statement following the incident.

“During this morning’s walk-through practice, running backs coach Skip Peete experienced a medical episode,” the statement said.

“He was attended to by team medical personnel and was responsive, coherent, and in stable condition prior to being transported off site for further medical evaluations.

“Additional updates will be provided as they become available.”

Video from practice showed trainers huddled around Peete during his “medical episode.”

Players on the field took a knee to show respect for their coach during the incident.

According to Fox 13’s Sean Barie, Peete is “alert and in good spirits.”

“Scary moment at today’s walkthrough for the #Bucs,” Barie posted.

“RB coach Skip Peete suffered a medical episode, was looked at by paramedics and taken to a hospital to get checked out but is alert & in good spirits.

“Players showed their respect by taking a knee while he was down.”

The 2025 season is Peete’s third with the Buccaneers.

He previously served as a running backs coach for the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Chicago Bears, and Oakland Raiders.

Peete also coached in college for Rutgers, UCLA, Michigan State, and Pittsburgh.

He is the brother of former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete.
