TARGET has confirmed it is opening 48 new stores across 22 states in the US.
The major retailer is expanding during a year of consumer chaos – see the full list of the new locations.

Target has announced that it is expanding its footprint in the US.
The chain is opening 48 stores in 22 states, including Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Utah.
Texas and Florida have tied for the biggest number of new Target stores opening, with six each.
On Target’s website, the company explains what it looks for when deciding to open a new store in a location.
The site reads: “From the Big Apple to the California coast and in between, our stores are at the center of how we serve our guests.
“And that’s why we’re continuing to invest in new stores in neighborhoods across the country.
“We’re always exploring locations for new stores. But how do we decide where to open a new Target next?
We look at a number of factors, like how we can best meet a community’s needs, site constraints, other area Target stores and more.
“And each step of the way, we work closely with local officials and guests to develop stores that truly make shopping easy, inspiring and affordable.”
Already, there’s a Target store within 10 miles of most doorsteps in America.
OUT OF BUSINESS
But not everything is going well at Target, as a canned food company found on its shelves has gone out of business.
Del Monte Foods is one of the largest producers, distributors, and marketers of branded processed food in the country.
It had been going for nearly 140 years, and could be found on Target and Walmart‘s shelves.
The brand was most well-known for its canned fruits and vegetables.

But Del Monte Foods was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
Company CEO Greg Longstreet remained positive about the future of the company despite the bankruptcy filing.
He said: “This is a strategic step forward for Del Monte Foods.
“After a thorough evaluation of all available options, we determined a court-supervised sale process is the most effective way to accelerate our turnaround and create a stronger and enduring Del Monte Foods.
“With an improved capital structure, enhanced financial position and new ownership, we will be better positioned for long-term success.
“While we have faced challenges intensified by a dynamic macroeconomic environment, Del Monte Foods has nourished families for nearly 140 years, and we remain committed to our mission of expanding access to nutritious, great-tasting food for all.”
Del Monte Foods will secure $912.5 million from its lenders to help fund the brand and keep it going during this period.
