Teen Mom’s Ryan Edwards claims show is CANCELED in divorce docs as he begs to pay less child support to ex Mackenzie

TEEN Mom star Ryan Edwards has claimed the MTV series has been canceled in divorce documents as he begs to pay less child support to his estranged wife Mackenzie.

Ryan, 37, and Mackenzie, 28, have been fighting in court over their divorce since she filed to end their marriage of six years in February 2023.

The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal Ryan is demanding the court adjust their child support agreement, as he claims he is no longer employed with MTV.

The Motion to Modify Temporary Child Support read, “This Court entered an Order Setting Temporary Child Support on or about February 11, 2025.

“Said order was based upon Defendant’s income at the time ($13,333 per month) which included his earnings from his appearances on a certain television series.”

Ryan continued of his involvement on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, “Defendant is no longer earning income through that series, through no fault of his own.”

This seemingly confirms rumors the show has been canceled.

He then revealed his only current income is through his full time employment at a truck and trailer repair shop, where he makes 27 dollars an hour.

The court papers continued, “Defendant is unable to continue to pay support in accordance with the October 2024 Order and requests that this court enter an Order Modifying Support until the final hearing in this matter.”

Ryan claims he now makes $4,282 a month and sees Jagger, 6, and Stella, 4, just 26 days of the year.

He believes Mackenzie’s income is $4,166.

The children are with her 339 days of the year.

SHOW OVER?

Ryan’s admission about the show’s future comes after Briana DeJesus’ sister, Brittany, who appears on the series, announced the show’s cancellation in a now-deleted comment.

Brittany, said in a TikTok, “I feel emotionally unstable today. Everything is making me cry.

“Everything’s making me upset. People on the internet are f****** mean,” the MTV star added.

Brittany responded to a fan’s question about her financial situation and whether her sister, who is part of the main cast, would step in to support her.

Brittany responded, “I ain’t broke no more because I ended up getting my money and my sister doesn’t give me money, MTV gives me money LOL.

“But the show canceled, so bye, bye to those checks LMAO.”

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter recently concluded its second season on MTV, with cast members speculating that this might mark the end of the franchise.

The show originally debuted in 2009 as a spinoff of the hit series 16 & Pregnant.

The show then had spinoffs Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2, Teen Mom 3 and Teen Mom OG.

Teen Mom 3 was canceled after one season, as Briana DeJesus and Mackenzie McKee later joined Teen Mom 2.

The network then consolidated Teen Mom 2 and Teen Mom OG to Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

The franchise also produced Teen Mom: Family Reunion and Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant.

The U.S. Sun previously reported MTV executives have allegedly been aware of when the long-running series would eventually come to a close.

“Show executives always planned for the show to end when the original kids turned 16,” a show insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“This has been told to the cast for years. But who knows what the network will ultimately decide.”

But, two sources don’t believe the franchise is done for good.

One Teen Mom source said, “It has not been canceled, everyone is still on a filming break.”

That insider added that while the cast is on break, they have not yet been told when filming will resume.

Meanwhile, another source close to production simply said it was “false” that the show was canceled.

That insider said that production has been waiting for the green light from MTV on a new season, but there has been no official cancellation at this time.

RYAN AND MACKENZIE’S COURT WAR

Mackenzie and Ryan have been at war over child support for their two children.

In October, Mackenzie requested child support from Ryan, claiming he “refused” to pay.

In court papers obtained by The U.S. Sun, Ryan filed financial information ahead of their hearing and listed his monthly income as $16,010 a month.

In Mackenzie’s child support petition, she stated that Ryan is employed and has income from MTV’s Teen Mom

“Because mother has physical custody of the parties’ two children and father is gainfully employed, the Court should order child support to be paid by Father to Mother during the pendency of this case, and at the final hearing said child support obligation be made permanent,” court papers read.

Mackenzie asked the court to set current child support and retroactive child support back to the date of separation.

In a separate court filing, Ryan was asked to provide “each and every checking account” maintained by him in the last three years.

One checking account in his sole name had a balance of $2,200 as of September 2024.

In another account, there is a balance of just $57.47 as of September 2024.

When asked to disclose savings accounts and retirement plans, Ryan responded, “none.”

In regard to debt, Ryan listed Capital One credit cards totaling $18,000.

Ryan was ordered to pay temporary child support in the amount of $1,553 per month for their two children in February.

IT’S OVER

Mackenzie filed for divorce in February 2023 after accusing him of abuse.

She then filed an Order of Protection in March 2023.

The order asked Ryan to have no contact and stay away from her.

Mackenzie requested she be granted temporary custody of her children, and for Ryan to pay child and spousal support.

Mackenzie also asked Ryan join a counseling and substance abuse program at the time of the filing.

Ryan told The U.S. Sun at the time of the abuse allegations, “I don’t speak for her. I never wanted to hurt her, just tried telling her I would have loved to work on it because I still at the time wanted to.”

The Order of Protection was dropped at a July 14, 2023 court hearing to allow Ryan to speak with their children through her.

He began dating now-fiancee Amanda Conner after meeting at rehab in the summer of 2023.

CUSTODY BATTLE

Mackenzie and Ryan’s divorce was dismissed in February 2024 because there were no filings for 270 days.

Ryan later filed a new complaint for divorce on March 6, 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Ryan requested split custody of their children, in court papers obtained by The U.S. Sun

The MTV star requested he be the “designated primary residential parent” and “that child support be assigned from [Mackenzie’s] income.”

Mackenzie never responded to the filing and the case was consolidated with the original divorce.

Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Cast

In September 2022, MTV blended their long-running shows Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 to one series following the young mothers’ experiences raising their kids and co-parenting with their baby dads. Here’s a list of the entire Teen Mom: The Next Chapter cast.

RYAN’S LEGAL TROUBLES

Ryan has been sober for two years after a relapse and legal trouble.

He was sentenced to nearly one year in Silverdale Detention Center in April 2023 after Ryan was arrested for drinking under the influence, harassment, and drug possession charges.

He was released from prison in July 2023 and entered Cadas Rehab in Chattanooga, Tennessee to complete a 28-day program.

After completing the program, he was ordered to the Oasis halfway house, located on the same property as Cadas, during a court hearing in August 2023.

Ryan was then arrested in December 2023 for not following the terms of his probation.

He was released weeks later and has stayed out of trouble.

RYAN’S REDEMPTION

Ryan’s storyline on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter focused on his relationship with his 16-year-old son Bentley with his ex-fiancée Maci Bookout.

Ryan and Amanda welcomed their daughter, Presley Sage Eliana Edwards, in February.

A judge ruled Amanda is allowed to attend visitation at Ryan’s mother Jen’s home with Jagger and Stella.
