Fans had settled in for a spectacle of football at the Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium.
But their outing was rudely disrupted when disaster struck away from the pitch.
A food truck on the outer concourse managed to catch fire and immediately caused chaos/
Black smoke was seen filtering onto the field itself, leaving attendees terrified.
TV cameras caught the moment the black plumes worked their way around the stadium.
But amazingly, the smoke did not cause play to be stopped.
The food truck behind the fire was named as Choc’s Barbeque Co. and Southern Catering.
A worker was also spotted battling the fire with an extinguisher.
But fortunately for everyone present, there were no reported injuries or issues caused.
Fans were certainly amused as they reacted online.
One said: “NC BBQ is just different.”
Another declared: “Can’t handle the heat, get out of the stadium.”
One noted: “That’s hilarious as long as no one was hurt.”
Another added: “Food trucks are the best.”
The incident appeared to throw Wake Forest off their stride though.
They were 14-0 up when the smoke began moving across the field.
They ended up going 24-14 up to take control.
But Wake Forest suffered a huge collapse as they gave up 20 unanswered points.
It saw North Carolina State win the match 34-24.
And Wake Forest will have to up their game when they welcome Georgia Tech next week.
