The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has issued a weather warning for August 10, predicting increased rainfall across Thailand, with heavy rains expected in the northeast, east, and the west coast of the south.

This weather change is attributed to a low-pressure system over northern Laos and Vietnam, coupled with a stronger southwesterly monsoon affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of potential flash floods and forest runoff, particularly in mountainous and low-lying areas.

Upper Andaman Sea waters will experience relatively strong winds, with waves reaching around 2 metres. Thunderstorms will cause waves to exceed 2 metres.

Meanwhile, the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand will face waves of 1 to 2 metres, also increasing during thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to navigate carefully and avoid areas with thunderstorms.

In the northern region, there is a 60% chance of thunderstorms, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Nan, Kamphaeng Phet, and Tak. Temperatures will range between 23 and 26°C at night and 32 and 37°C during the day, with southwesterly winds at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.
