Actress Pratikssha Honmukhe who got back to the TV screens with a new avatar, that of Nisha in Colors‘ Parineetii, is excited as she gets to play a very layered character in the show. This is Pratikssha’s return after she played the negative lead in Zee TV’s Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye.
Says Pratikssha, “Nisha is an incredibly layered character, which is what drew me to her in the first place. She is bold, calculating, and emotionally complex, yet there is a vulnerability underneath that makes her journey intriguing. She enters the storyline with a strong motive, and her presence shifts the dynamics in unexpected ways. She is definitely not your typical one-dimensional negative lead—there’s a lot more to uncover with her.
Talking about how Nisha is different from what she has played before, she says, “Most of my previous roles have had a certain emotional or moral anchor, even if they were in grey shades. But Nisha is unpredictable—she can charm, manipulate, and break down, all in the span of a single scene. Portraying her requires a constant switching of gears emotionally, which is both challenging and thrilling for me as an actor.”
Ask her whether she has earlier watched Parineetii, and she states, “Yes, I was familiar with Parineetii. It has a strong fanbase and has maintained its popularity over time. What prompted me to join was the way the makers envisioned the new chapter of the show. They were not just adding a character—they were reimagining the narrative through her lens, which felt refreshing and meaningful. Also, I trust the production house and creative team—they know how to keep the storytelling alive with each leap.”
Talking about the importance of generation leaps in long-running shows, Parikssha quips, “Generation leaps, when done well, breathe new life into a show. They open doors for fresh storylines, characters, and conflicts. But they must remain rooted in the show’s core values so that loyal viewers don’t feel disconnected. I believe Parineetii has struck that balance, and this leap will only make it more compelling.
On the expectations from this new journey, she avers, “I hope to push my own creative boundaries with Nisha. I want viewers to be intrigued, sometimes even conflicted, about her choices. That is the power of a well-written character—you don’t have to always agree with her, but you can’t ignore her. And of course, I would love for the audience to embrace this new phase of the show with as much love as they have given it so far.
On the kind of roles she will want to explore, the actor states, “I am always drawn to characters that have emotional depth and evolution—whether it’s a hero, a villain, or someone in between. Roles that challenge stereotypes, that make people think or feel something intense, are what excite me. I also love scripts where the character’s journey is unpredictable—where I, as an actor, can explore new shades within myself.”
She talks at length about shooting with Paras Kalnawat and Anchal Sahu. “Paras and Anchal are both very grounded and focused individuals. There is a great camaraderie on set, and they have been very warm in welcoming me into the Parineetii family. It always helps when your co-actors are collaborative—that energy translates beautifully on screen.”
Best of luck!!
