THE Voice executives offered a huge amount of cash to a show legend in hopes he’d return alongside Adam Levine next season, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.
Despite making a hefty offer, the former Voice coach appeared to decline as the show couldn’t make the deal happen for season 29 – changing the format of the competition for the first time ever.

While The Voice’s season 28 has yet to air, production is already underway for season 29.
The special season is being touted as Battle of Champions and features three coaches who have previously won at least one season.
Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam are the season 29 lineup – marking the first time in the show’s history that there will only be three coaches.
However, The U.S. Sun has exclusively learned that the fate of the season was close to being vastly different – as producers at one point tried to get fan-favorite Blake Shelton back on board.
“They offered both Blake and Adam more money, a lot more, to get them back together and do a season together.
“Obviously it didn’t work out for season 28 but stay tuned – it might happen sooner than later,” an insider claimed.
The source continued: “It’d be a win/win for production and the fans. Their chemistry is unmatched.
“[The show] hasn’t been able to replicate it with anyone else since.”

Season 28 of The Voice premiere on Monday, September 22 at 8pm EST on NBC.
The upcoming season will star Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Bublé as coaches.
Although fans still have season 28 to enjoy, season 29 has already been in production and filmed their blind auditions, The U.S. Sun can confirm.
Season 29 will feature Adam, 46, Kelly, 43, and John, 46, as they try to snag another victory crown.
Blake, 49, has not confirmed plans to return as a coach since his shocking departure back in October 2022 after season 23.
After becoming a fixture on the show from season one, the country crooner exited The Voice to focus on spending time with his family, including wife Gwen Stefani.
Years prior, Blake’s best buddy, Adam, was the first to abruptly exit the franchise.
Following voicing frustration about the format of the show, the Maroon 5 frontman quit The Voice after season 16 in May 2019.
While he eventually returned as a coach for season 27, fans felt the void of Adam and Blake’s friendship in the years they weren’t on screen together.
The two pals built a friendly rivarly on camera that eventually became a real-life “bromance.”
The Voice Season 27 Coaches
The Voice has gone through many coaches in its various seasons. Some stay on for a while, while others only stay for one season. Here is who will be coaching Season 27 in 2025.
Adam Levine – Season 1 to 16, 27
John Legend – 16 to 22, 24 to 25, 27
Kelsea Ballerini – 15, Comeback Stage, 20, 27
Michael Buble – 26 and 27
Adam opened up about the blossoming of their relationship, telling Jimmy Fallon during a Tonight Show appearance: “When we started The Voice, like, no one knew.
“It is now what it is, but back then it was a mess. Like, no one knew what was going to happen.
“They threw these people, these four people in these four turning chairs. And this is something we all know about now, but back then we were like, ‘This is weird.’
“And so we all felt like part of this team, you know? Blake and I started kind of dissing each other casually.
“We had a really specific moment where we were in each other’s trailers.
“I was like, ‘Hey, is there ever too far? Is there a too far for you? Is there an over the line for you?’
“And he’s like, ‘Buddy, you hit me as hard as you want. You will never go too hard.’
“I think he pretty much stayed true to that,” he said of how they grew to become such good friends.
