Tom Brady makes Super Bowl joke at own expense on Fox NFL Sunday during New York Giants-Washington Commanders preview

TOM Brady made a joke at his own expense on Fox NFL Sunday as he previewed the New York Giants vs Washington Commanders match.

Brady has started his second year of ten with Fox after signing a $375 million contract when he retired.

The former Patriots and Bucs QB came under intense scrutiny in his rookie broadcasting season in 2024.

But he overcame some doubters in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, even throwing in a few jokes into his commentary.

He opened up with a shot at Rob Gronkowski, his former teammate, before discussing the New York Giants’ quarterback room.

Brady even poked fun at his own losses against the side.

He said, “The Giants really believe is Russ [Wilson].

“Not just as a player, what he can do on the field, but really as a leader for the organisation that they haven’t really had.

“Jaxson Dart, I believe he can sit on the sideline and watch a real professional, and Jaxson can grow in that role as well.

“I really love this QB room. I really love how they’ve developed it.

“In fact, I think any Giants quarterback room that doesn’t involve Eli Manning, I like.”

Brady faced the Giants twice in Super Bowls, losing both matches against his rivals.

Manning was New York’s quarterback in both games, leading his team to the 2007 and 2011 championships, but the Giants haven’t won the Super Bowl since.

Heading into the season, the NFL lifted the broadcasting restrictions on Brady that he faced in 2024.

Because the star has an ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, he was banned from production meetings with Fox Sports.

The 48-year-old had to be filled in by colleagues on what happened in the meetings with players and coaches.

He is now allowed inside the meetings but is still prohibited from attending team practices.

While many of the fan complaints were about this conflict of interest, he also faced some about his broadcasting abilities.

Gronk backed Brady to keep improving, however, saying no one works harder than him.

And seemingly, he did win over some fans in Week 1.

One person commented, “It’s clear. Tom Brady is maturing as a commentator.

“He annoyed me last year. I’m listening this year.

“He figured out that less is more. Quality over quantity. Shorter bursts of insight. And it’s only week 1.”

Another wrote, “Dude shining as a commenter.”
