A FRATERNITY has been suspended after pledges were allegedly forced to squat 500 times in a disturbing hazing ritual.
New Sigma Kappa fraternity members were left unable to walk and their urine turned black in the days following the “almost torturous” exercise at Texas A&M University, students said.

Multiple new pledges were rushed to the hospital following the disgusting workout at the Kappa Sigma Lodge on the university’s campus in College Station on September 14, police said.
The school’s chapter of the fraternity has been suspended amid an investigation into the hazing allegations, NBC affiliate KPRC reported.
“You have to put your hands on your heels and squat all as a group,” a victim who asked not to be identified told KPRC.
“And they’re yelling at you, making you squat together. And that’s where we did three, four or 500 of those.”
He added, “All in the mud all real, real dark, people yelling at you, shining lights in your face, you’re getting dizzy, you’re throwing up.”
The pledge said some members passed out during the ordeal.
Afterward, at least 10 pledge members were hospitalized, KPRC reported.
Some of the victims weren’t able to walk, while others were reportedly diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis, a rare muscle injury that causes your muscles to break down and can be life-threatening.
Symptoms of rhabdo can include muscle weakness, dark urine, nausea, vomiting, seizures, and confusion.
“My legs wouldn’t move more than a few inches and then I peed and it was almost black,” the victim said.
One unnamed pledge told KPRC that victims were told to go to different hospitals and to lie about what caused their injuries.
After KPRC reported the story on Monday, Kappa Sigma leaders allegedly ordered frat members to stay silent.
“If nothing changes, someone’s gonna die,” the victim said.
“The main thing has to be that this never happens again.”
Statement from Brazos County Sheriff’s Office
Police issued the following statement about the recent hazing allegations at Texas A&M University.
On September 21, 2025, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible hazing incident involving the Kappa Sigma Fraternity in the 10400 block of North Dowling Road, Brazos County, Texas. The incident is reported to have occurred on September 14, 2025.
Preliminary information indicates that on September 14, a group of prospective new members (pledges) of the fraternity were instructed to attend an event at the off-campus fraternity property. Current members reportedly brought the pledges to a secluded area where they were told to engage in physical activity until exhaustion. At least one participant later sought medical treatment for injuries sustained during the event.
The investigation has revealed there may be additional victims or witnesses. We strongly encourage anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating this matter and has notified the Texas A&M University Police Department of the investigation.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Sgt. Trey Oldham at Toldham@brazoscountytx.gov or Investigator David Grissom at DGrissom@brazoscountytx.gov, or call the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office at 979-361-4900.

Kappa Sigma didn’t immediately return The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
This isn’t the first instance of dangerous hazing rituals at Texas A&M University.
SCHOOL’S HISTORY OF HAZING
In August 2018, freshman student Joseph Little died from seizures caused by snorting Adderall so that he could stay awake for activities with his frat, Phi Gamma Delta.
Little’s fraternity, also called FIJI, was found responsible for breaking hazing and alcohol rules just months after his death.
The frat was suspended.
Texas A&M University’s statement
“Texas A&M University does not tolerate hazing and takes allegations of hazing seriously,” a university spokesperson told The U.S. Sun.
“The Division of Student Affairs is aware of hazing allegations recently reported. The allegations are currently under investigation for possible violations of the Student Conduct Code.
“The university will fully cooperate with any law enforcement investigations related to these allegations. Given the active investigation, we cannot share additional details at this time.”
In 2021, the university’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity was slapped with a $1 million for alleged hazing.
Two pledges said they were severely burned by industrial-strength cleaner while they were forced to perform “kinesthetic activities” and had to receive skin graft surgeries, according to ABC affiliate KTRK.
Alleged fraternity hazing at Texas A&M University has one group facing a lawsuit for $1 million after some pledges say they were burned.
The lawsuit was filed last week after two pledges say they were hazed in March by members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
The pledges said they were forced to do “kinesthetic activities” and had foreign substances poured on them, including spit, raw eggs and industrial-strength cleaner known as SC-200.
The two plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit are sophomore students at the university and are from the Houston area.
They claim they suffered serious burns and had to receive several skin graft surgeries.
Hazing is not only illegal, but against the student code at Texas A&M University.
