Tragedy as Brit, 26, among two killed in horror car crash after ‘swerving to avoid kangaroo’ on remote Australian island

A BRITISH man has been killed in a horror car crash on the remote Kangaroo Island.

Ed Burrows, 26, was “living the dream” travelling around Australia just weeks before he died alongside a beloved father in Adelaide.

Baseball coach Craig Doyle, 55, and Burrows were both passengers in a white Nissan utility when the tragedy occurred.

The driver, Doyle’s 42-year-old nephew, reportedly swerved to avoid a kangaroo as the Nissan rolled over on its roof at around 11.30pm on Wednesday.

The driver survived with only minor injuries but was arrested and charged with two counts of causing death by careless use of a motor vehicle.

Burrows had been recording his Outback adventure on social media in the months before the crash.

In one video, posted in July, a friend back home in the UK told Burrows he looked as though he was living the dream in Australia.

The gleeful Brit replied: “I’m trying it on for size.”

Burrows had been travelling across Kangaroo Island alongside the Doyles after a day of working at the Sea Dragon Lodge, say local media.

They had reportedly travelled just 7.5 miles before crashing.

Karin Greenslade, the owner and operator of the lodge, said Burrows left a huge impact on all who knew him.

He said: “We can’t grasp it – we are in disbelief. Ed was loving everything on Kangaroo Island, loving life here.”

Doyle’s daughter Kimberley also shared a heartbreaking tribute to her dad on social media.

She wrote: “Our hearts are absolutely broken. My dad’s life was cut short last night as he died in a serious car crash on Kangaroo Island.

“We currently have no words but we wanted our friends and family to know.

“We love you sooooo much dad and will miss you for ever and ever.”

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
