The Jaguars released their depth chart for Week 1, and Hunter‘s name is listed at two positions.
He appears as both a wide receiver and a cornerback, but he isn’t starting at both positions.
Hunter has been labeled as a starting wide receiver and a backup cornerback.
When he was first drafted, it was expected that he would be utilized more as a wide receiver than as a cornerback.
However, he has been training at both positions and his coaches say the workload hasn’t affected him at all.
“He is able to show what he’s capable of doing, and I think playing both spots on offense and defense, this kid continues to just go out and work his butt off and when he gets his opportunity, he’s going to make the most of it,” receivers coach Edgar Bennett said.
Hunters’ teammates are also impressed with his abilities, with cornerback Jourdan Lewis dying to see his teammate get reps on both sides of the ball.
“His energy is different,” Lewis said.
“And the way he goes about his business is different. All he wants to do is play football.
“It takes a special individual mentally to go out there and want to do both things.
“It’s going to be tough, especially being his first time in the NFL, but I think he has it.
“He has it to do it.”
Hunter missed a bit of time in camp with an upper body injury, which could be part of the reason why he wasn’t named a starter at both wide receiver and cornerback.
However, his head coach Liam Coen still views the offseason as a success for the Colorado product.
“From a scheduling standpoint, I do think that it’s been a success,” he said.

“He still wants more, which is good, but he’s got to also hone in on the details and get back to that after being away for 10 days.
“But I do believe it was a success.”
Hunter will get his first regular-season action against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Fans can expect him to play most of the offensive snaps, and possibly some defensive snaps.
