Travis Kelce sends clear message on retirement decision after Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl brutal defeat

TRAVIS Kelce has sent a direct message on his retirement decision after contemplating leaving the NFL after a career-worst season in 2024.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end is coming off a campaign in which his team lost, 40-22, in Super Bowl 59.

Kelce will be entering his 13th season in the league – all with the Chiefs.

The 10-time Pro Bowler will try to win his fourth Super Bowl in the upcoming season.

But the Chiefs are reportedly getting ready for the 2025 campaign to be his last in the league.

“Since he announced his return to the Chiefs in late February, all signs have pointed to the 2025 season being Kelce’s last,” ESPN reported Tuesday.

Since June, Kelce, who is in the final year of his contract, has spoken about his future with the team through only this season.

Several members of the Chiefs’ organization, in the front office and business department, are coy to use the word ‘retirement,’ but they have already expressed their appreciation for Kelce’s importance to the franchise and have said they hope to experience plenty of joy while cherishing his performances.

Kelce and the Chiefs are coming off a disastrous Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles back in February.

The 35-year-old recorded just three receptions for 27 yards in the big game.

After the Super Bowl defeat, Kelce didn’t reveal an answer on whether he’ll return for another season for multiple weeks.

He ultimately came away with the decision to play again.

Kelce couldn’t get over last season’s finish as he repeatedly told himself, “I can’t go out like that,” according to ESPN.

On February 27, ESPN’s Pat McAfee announced that Kelce sent him a text, saying that he’d play in 2025.

Kelce will turn 36 in October.

He is in the final year of his contract extension.
