President Donald Trump launched into a social media frenzy Thursday on Christmas Day, but political analyst Jason Easley says Americans are tuning him out – and Trump “can’t stand it.”
Trump made well over 100 social media posts Thursday, including one lengthy rant against “losers” who were reporting on Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier whose past relationship with Trump continues to plague his administration.
Trump’s Christmas outbursts, at least according to Easley, were the result of his waning influence, as made evident by the Kennedy Center’s annual awards ceremony on Tuesday – hosted by Trump – tanking with the center’s lowest ratings in history.
“Given that Trump can’t stand to be ignored, a Christmas outburst was coming… Since everything about Trump is rehashed and stale, his hate post gimmick is too,” Easley wrote Thursday on PolitcusUSA, a liberal news website owned by Easley.
“There is nothing shocking about his Christmas post. The president won’t deal with the reality that he is failing in the eyes of the American people, so he is trying to rewrite reality. It isn’t working. The American people have long since tired of Trump’s worn-out gimmick.”
Trump has also tanked in the polls, with his favorability among Americans dropping to a new second-term low of 36% in a recent Gallup poll. That poll, conducted between Nov. 3 and Nov. 25, saw Trump’s approval ratings worsen “significantly” since the month prior, dropping by seven points among Republicans, and by eight points among independent voters.
Trump’s decreasing favorability could also “weigh down the Republican Party lille an anchor” in the 2026 midterms, CNN’s Harry Enten cautioned recently.
“Donald Trump is in the Oval Office, but he is increasingly irrelevant in the minds of most Americans,” Easley wrote. “America is ignoring him, and Donald Trump can’t stand it.”
