THE truth behind rumors that Shaun White cheated on his long-time fiancée, Nina Dobrev, while partying in Austin has been revealed.
News of the Olympic snowboarder and the Vampire Diaries actress’s split broke on September 11, and immediately, the rumor mill went into overdrive with speculation of cheating.

One specific rumor alleged that Shaun was seen in Austin, Texas, being more than friendly with a couple of women[/caption]
Nina, 36, and Shaun, 39, announced their engagement in October 2024, after they had dated for over four years before that.
About a week before their split was announced, an Instagram user alleged on Nina’s account under a photo of her with Shaun that he had been seen hanging out with women in Texas.
“Just btw, I saw your finance in Austin, Texas last week at a bar. His friend came up to me and threatened to put my phone away and not take pictures of him and these 2 girls he was with,” the commenter wrote.
“I did not have my phone out or even realize who he was at this point,” the comment, which was captured and shared to Reddit, continued.
In another comment, the user added, “Shaun was with the girls. It was not friendly.”
An insider close to the gold medalist said he was in Austin for work, taking part in a fireside chat with AppDirect.
“There was absolutely no cheating,” they claimed, and added that Shaun was “just with friends.”
The source specified that Shaun was with “a business manager and a woman on his speaking team and a close friend.”
On September 5, Nina had posted a series of photos, including a loved-up snap apparently showing her and Shaun on vacation.
The insider close to Shaun said the pair had been broken up earlier this month, but that it had nothing to do with cheating rumors.
“They just were not the right match,” the source close to Shaun said.
They added that the gold medalist and the actress got engaged, but they had struggled with issues in their relationship for “a very long time.”
Despite the breakup seeming sudden, the insider assured that the former couple are on good terms and even called the split “a mutual decision.”
The insider also put the onus on Nina for their engagement after four years of dating last year.
“She wanted to get engaged, so they got engaged, but they both knew it wasn’t going to work out, and they didn’t have any wedding plans.”
Meanwhile, the couple was not only broken up, but they were miles apart. Nina was on a family vacation in Europe while Shaun was in Asia.

Shaun and Nina met at a Florida workshop hosted by motivational speaker Tony Robbins in late 2019.
After the event, they decided to grab dinner at a nearby restaurant, and White was surprised to learn just how famous Dobrev was.
“I actually didn’t know anything about her,” he told People.
When restaurant staff approached them and asked for a photo with her — but not him — he was stunned.
“I was like, ‘What’s happening? What’s going on?’” he recalled, adding, “It was actually really funny.”
The couple sparked dating rumours in February 2020 when they shared separate photos from a South African safari.
“That was actually how we kind of started our relationship,” White revealed to Us Weekly.
“And she [thought], ‘Oh, this guy, he came to play. He’s serious.’ So that’s a thing that we share together. We both enjoy traveling.”
The pair celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together the following February.
In April 2023, White shared that he felt “no pressure” to propose to Dobrev.
“We’re just enjoying our time together right now,” he told People.
“But I told her, I was like, ‘Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever.’”
Nina has not publicly spoken on the split, and a representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
