TSA issues Labor Day travel warning & reveals busiest day as flyers urged to remember 5 security checkpoint updates

Americans across the country will want to take advantage of this holiday to enjoy the final few days of summer.

But the TSA has also reminded passengers of five updates to security checkpoints to be aware of.

In a social media post, the agency shared its projections for the coming weekend.

The data suggests flyers should come prepared for busy queues at the airport this weekend.

The post reads: “TSA projects 17.4M individuals will travel this Labor Day holiday weekend from Thurs (8/28) through Wed (9/3).

“The highest volume day will be Friday with nearly 3M travelers expected to take to the skies.”

TAKE NOTE OF SECURITY CHANGES

In the same message, the TSA highlighted five security checkpoint updates for passengers to be aware of.

The first is that travelers no longer need to take off their shoes in standard lanes for security.

It was a change introduced to security lanes back in July.

Passengers should also be aware that there are dedicated family and military lanes for those eligible.

Gold Star Family Members can also get free TSA Precheck.

As well as this, there is a $25 discount available on the same service for military spouses.

A TSA PreCheck BOGO $15 off deal for a family member is also on offer.

Anyone who has questions about the services can text “Travel” to AskTSA (275-872).
