THE Transportation Security Administration has warned travelers against chucking three common beauty items in checked bags.
Flyers could risk losing the expensive equipment for good if they pack it incorrectly.

If a hair straightener is cordless and operates with a battery instead, it should be treated carefully, the TSA warned.
This is partially because they often have lithium-ion batteries, which are banned from being stowed under a plane as they can spontaneously combust.
Plus, if a straightener accidentally turns on during flight, it could overheat, catch fire, or explode, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
According to the TSA, flyers can only bring the cordless equipment if it’s packed in a carry-on bag and comes with a safety cover.
Cordless curling irons, butane cordless curling irons, and cordless straighteners are all banned from checked bags.
Any banned item found in checked luggage by the TSA will be confiscated by the administration.
After an item is taken, it may be disposed of, turned over to law enforcement, or given to the airline.
The TSA has been cracking down on people packing products that are powered by lithium-ion batteries.
The administration’s website states, “Portable chargers or power banks containing a lithium-ion battery must be packed in carry-on bags.
“Spare lithium batteries, which include both power banks and phone chargers, are prohibited in checked luggage.”
Uninstalled lithium-ion batteries have been banned from checked luggage by the Federal Aviation Administration since 2020.
However, earlier this year, the FAA extended this ban to power banks and cell phone battery cases using the dangerous items.
Some items that should be double-checked when packing include cell-phone batteries, laptop batteries, external batteries, and portable rechargers.

In other travel news, the TSA has rolled out a new sign that travelers should keep an eye out for in airports.
Anyone who spots the signs could speed up their journey through security checkpoints.
The rollout is a part of the TSA’s Family on the Fly initiative, which is meant to make flying with kids easier.
Some airports now have designated lanes where it’s easier to get through security with strollers and backpacks.
The latest site to benefit from the scheme is the John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.
In an announcement, a TSA spokesperson said, “When families arrive at John Wayne Airport (SNA), they will find a specially designated lane for them at the centrally located Checkpoint B.
“With Southern California being one of the top tourist destinations in the U.S. for vacationing families, I am excited that we can now expedite their screening process and enhance their overall airport experience.”
