THE whole of Hawaii and parts of Russia have been placed under tsunami alert following two powerful earthquakes in the Pacific.
A 7.4 magnitude quake hit off the east coast of Kamchatka, Russia, on Sunday morning and there is now imminent danger of a powerful wave smashing into surrounding land.

A slightly smaller earthquake of magnitude 6.7 struck just minutes earlier in a similar area.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said any tsunami could cause serious destruction in areas even far from the epicentre of the earthquake.
