VERIZON has made a shocking turnaround after it changed a beloved benefit this summer.

Select consumers nationwide were notified of the controversial decision involving a loyalty perk discount.

“Just got sent an email it seems many of you got as well, that my loyalty discount of $20 and $10 per line are being discontinued Sep 1,” a longtime customer with the cellular giant wrote on Reddit.

“And they still have no plans to change this?”

“I had to change my plans because my ‘old’ plan from 2023 was no longer eligible to keep autopay discounts of $10/line,” fumed another.

Verizon later confirmed that loyalty discounts were being discontinued, but only for a few specific and older plans.

“A small number of customers have been contacted about expirations to legacy discounts on their mobile accounts,” a spokesperson told The US Sun.

Even so, several users said they’d had enough and threatened to switch over to rival carriers over the legacy discount removal.

“This month, I hit my breaking point: Verizon removed my long-standing discounts, and my bill jumped to $260 for the same two lines,” they wrote in a separate thread.

It was originally $150, according to them, and they decided to go with AT&T instead.

“Leaving Verizon was the best thing I ever did to my wallet. No service and a high bill,” another commented.

DISCOUNT RETURNED?

Verizon has seemingly taken notice, and is now offering discounts up to $20 per month for customers on every line, per Phone Arena.

They can begin getting the cost-cutting benefit by heading to the My Verizon app, going to Edit Profile and Settings, and tapping Number Transfer Pin.

What’s generated is a code intended for customers who are planning to switch over to Verizon from another carrier.

Some customers have also gotten a “pop up” representing something similar on the company’s mobile app.

“Just got a pop up from my Verizon app saying for a limited time every active phone line on your account is eligible for a $20/mo discount for 12 months,” a surprised user posted.

TOO LITTLE TOO LATE

Still, it wasn’t enough to change their mind.

“Too bad I’ll be leaving very soon. If the above is true and I wanted to stay it’s drop my 4 lines and dashcam from $184 to $104 a month,” they added.

The customer also claimed to have chatted with a Verizon representative, who activated the discount for them.

Others argued they only received a discount worth $10.

“Isn’t it $10 per line for 12 months? That’s what I got,” someone responded.

“You got offered $20? Thinking about reaching support again to claim an extra $10 per line lol,” a confused customer added.

“I’ve had them for 17 years and they’ve never offered a discount!” a third cried out.

The US Sun has contacted Verizon for comment.

Prices at Verizon have also increased for customers with specific phone plans this year.

The company also recently pushed to delay a phone “unlocking rule,” which could result in higher costs.
