The actress is staying in the stunning city of Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.
Viola also showed off her amazing hair transformation where she rocked her natural curls which she dyed red.
The actress stripped down to a bright orange one piece swimsuit as she lounged by the pool and the beach.
She styled the look with a pair of chic black sunglasses along with some classic gold hoops.
Viola made the most of her day relaxing with her closest gal pals.
The actress opting for a glamorous vibe celebrating her birthday in style.
Speaking to PEOPLE last week about her milestone birthday, she said: “I’m getting ready to be 60.”
She continued: “I don’t want to be completely kumbaya.
“But little Viola is always very close by. And I always saw her as damaged, but she wasn’t.
“She had a lot of beautiful qualities in her. I always want to honor her,” she added.
The actress, who is married to actor Julius Tennon, began her acting career starring in minor theatre productions.
Since 2014 she has played the lead role of lawyer Annalise Keating in TV show How to Get Away with Murder.
She shot to fame when she appeared in several successful and critically acclaimed films including Fences, The Help, Doubt, and The Woman King.
The star is also celebrated for reaching EGOT status, meaning she has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
