A FORMER Walmart employee has encountered a frustrating financial mess after they quit, hit with an unexpected charge totaling nearly $600.

The former Walmart employee spilled the details of the situation in a Reddit post on Monday, explaining that they had worked at the retail giant for roughly three weeks after moving states until they were hired at a better job.
They claimed to have returned all company property, including a work phone, badge, vest, and polo shirts, to a manager upon quitting.
The worker was then shocked to spot a $543 charge “with no explanation at all,” complaining that it was very frustrating that they were unable to get in contact with hardly anyone at Walmart when they called.
When they were able to speak with someone on the phone, the worker was told that they needed to reach out to HR.
“There is one person that does all of HR,” wrote the employee. “She is literally never there, or dodging calls like crazy. I get transferred to her, and she hangs up every single time. If I go up there, they tell me she is gone.”
The frustrated ex-employee explained that they had called corporate HR, payroll, and “every other phone number provided,” to which they were told that only the woman working in HR could reverse the charge.
“I am not even sure what this charge is for. I was never notified or anything,” they complained.
In addition to randomly being charged hundreds of dollars, the former Walmart worker was missing their last paycheck.
They visited the store they worked at and waited roughly 2.5 hours for a Walmart coach, who ultimately said he was unable to find the worker’s check and advised them to contact the lady over at HR.
“Why do they make it so hard?” cried the employee. “Payroll told me they were supposed to have a paper check within 72 hours, but they clearly do not.”

The Reddit post was flooded with comments offering potential explanations for the payment dilemma as well as words of advice.
Redditors were shocked that Walmart was able to legally take money from the former worker’s bank account.
“Should be illegal tbh,” said one. “Once you pay someone their last wages, you shouldn’t be able to take sh** back.”
Users suggested a number of ideas to help the employee get their due compensation, including contacting the Department of Labor, filing a wage claim with their state, contacting a lawyer, or calling the ethics hotline.

“If the paycheck was around the time you were paid when you quit, it gets taken back and you have to go get the paper check from the store,” they wrote.
