THE Washington Commanders’ $3.8 billion return to their former historic site has officially been confirmed.
This is despite Donald Trump’s threats to block the deal if they don’t change their name back to the Washington Redskins.

It was officially announced this week that the Commanders will return to the site of their former home, RFK Stadium, in 2030.
The $3.8 billion deal was signed off on by the District of Columbia Council on Wednesday.
But, Trump has said he will not allow the deal unless the NFL team agree to his terms.
Speaking on Truth Social last month, he said, “I may put a restriction on them that if they don’t change the name back to the original ‘Washington Redskins’.
“If they don’t get rid of the ridiculous moniker, ‘Washington Commanders’, I won’t make a deal for them to build a Stadium in Washington.”
However, it is unclear what power Trump has over the deal.
The Bill can now be sent to Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser after it was passed by an 11-2 vote.
Bowser negotiated the initial plan with Commanders’ owner Josh Harris in April.
The agreed deal sees the team contribute $2.7 billion and the city invest roughly $1.1 billion.
It will see the development of the stadium, housing, green space and a sports complex on land bordering the Anacostia River.
In a statement after Wednesday’s vote, Bowser discussed her excitement for the monumental plan.
She said, “It is with great pride that I can say we are officially bringing our Commanders home and turning 180 acres of land on the banks of the Anacostia, on the monumental axis, into jobs and opportunity for DC residents.
“This will be the largest economic development project in DC history.”
The scheme aims to open the venue in 2030 on the same site Washington left in the 90s.
During their time at RFK Stadium, they won three Super Bowls in the 1980s and 90s.

They currently play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
Since the move, they have made the playoffs seven times, but have failed to win the NFC Championship.
However, they did make it to the NFC Championship game for the first time since they last won the Super Bowl in 1991.
Back in January, Congress and Joe Biden passed a bill that saw the land of the stadium transferred to the city.
This made it possible for the new development to replace the old stadium.
