The former Spurs and Real Madrid superstar has been reportedly been lined up to front a shock takeover at Plymouth Argyle.
Gareth Bale is set to be the face of a US-based private equity group’s move to invest in Plymouth, according to the Telegraph.
Talks are taking place behind the scenes between Argyle and the investment group, which includes members of the American-based Storch family.
Two years on from announcing his retirement in 2023, Bale’s net worth is believed to still be around a whopping £120million.
Bale, 35, has no historic links to Plymouth, who were immediately relegated from the Championship upon their return in the 2024/25 season.

Emma Rhys-Jones has been with Gareth Bale for over two decades.
She grew up in Llanishen, a district in north Cardiff a couple of miles from Bale’s family home.

They married in 2019 in a private ceremony in Mallorca, Spain.

Guests were required to hand over their phones to ensure the ceremony remained private.
