WIMBLEDON fans are only just realizing Coco Gauff’s real name after seeing the official entry list.
Gauff, 21, is a household name across the US and the globe as one of the biggest stars in sport, not just tennis.

The American is hoping to impress at Wimbledon 2025[/caption]
She won her home Grand Slam at the US Open in New York in 2023.
And the Florida hero backed it by winning the French Open last month.
She is now the world No2 and hoping to add to her tally of majors at Wimbledon.
It was at the All England Club that Gauff burst on to the scene when she beat Venus Williams as a 15-year-old.
But tennis supporters were shocked when the list of players in this year’s Wimbledon draw was revealed.
That is because Gauff’s first name is not actually Coco.
The American sensation is known by Coco and uses the name on her social media accounts.
Even the WTA Tour website lists her name as “Coco Gauff“.
However, her actual full name is Cori Dionne Gauff.
But she goes by Coco – not least to avoid confusion at home with her father.
Gauff previously explained: “My dad’s name is Corey.
“And so I guess they didn’t want me to get my dad and me confused when my mum is like yelling at one of us in the house.
“With Coco there are two stories.
“My aunt says she came up with calling me Coco.
“But then my dad said, when he was younger people used to call him Co. Then he was like, ‘I’ll call my daughter Coco.’
“I don’t know which story is actually true, but they both get pretty mad if I don’t say both of them. I just say that.”
One Wimbledon fan wrote on social media: “Only learning today that Coco Gauff’s real name is Cori Gauff. Yep, her real names are Cori Dionne Gauff and ‘Coco’ is a nickname.”
Another typed: “I was today years old when I found out that was Coco Gauff’s real name.”
But the shock revelation about Gauff’s true identity has caused plenty of confusion at hotels and airports as she travels around the world for her tennis.
She added: “Every time I check into hotels or [with] people at the airport, they look at my ID.
“Obviously the airport you book under your real name, but the person sometimes will recognise me.
“They’ll be like, ‘Wait, are you Coco?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s just a nickname. I’m not somebody that looks like her.’
“In the hotel, sometimes [they’re] like, ‘Well, we don’t have your room.’ I’m like, ‘It’s probably under Coco, not Cori.’ And then they’ll do that.”
