Zee TV’s upcoming family drama, Lakshmi Niwas, presents a heartfelt story grounded in the everyday realities of India’s middle-class joint families. Staying true to the channel’s brand promise, “Aapka Apna Zee TV,” the show highlights the dreams, struggles, and values that unite families, particularly the universal aspiration of homeownership.
The story centers around Lakshmi and Srinivas, a couple who have spent 35 years living in a rented house while pursuing two goals dear to them: building a home of their own and ensuring a bright future for their daughters. Just as they begin to take steps toward achieving their dreams, life takes unexpected turns that test the strength of their bond and the stability of their family.
Following the introduction of Manasi Joshi Roy as Lakshmi and Rajendra Chawla as Srinivas, Lakshmi Niwas now welcomes popular actor Gashmeer Mahajani in a pivotal role as Aditya Sahu.
Aditya is a self-made and grounded individual who was raised by his stepmother after losing his birth mother at an early age. Although he comes from a wealthy background, he values relationships much more than money. Sensitive, honest, and emotionally aware, Aditya has an intuitive understanding of people and brings a calming influence wherever he goes.
Gashmeer Mahajani shared, “I was truly drawn to this character because of the depth and purpose he brings to the story. Aditya is a beautifully written role, calm, sincere, emotionally aware, and incredibly grounded. What excited me was how pivotal he is to the narrative; his journey creates a significant shift that shapes what happens ahead.”
Adding to it, he further said, “Unlike the layered or grey-shaded roles I’ve portrayed earlier, Aditya is an absolutely straight, good-hearted man, the quintessential ‘right person’ whose honesty and warmth define him. Playing someone, so pure and uncomplicated feels refreshing and challenging in its own way because it requires a different approach to performance. I’m genuinely looking forward to bringing this character to life and being part of a story that feels so relatable and heartfelt.”
Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, Lakshmi Niwas is set to premiere soon. Viewers will witness how dreams, responsibilities, and relationships intertwine, illustrating how one family’s journey toward “apna ghar” reflects the experiences of countless Indian households.
